- December 2000: adoption by the Conference of Heads of State
of the Regional Food Security strategy, in N’Djamena, Chad;
- March 2001: during a meeting organized by AMEW/GCPF, now CropLife Africa Middle East,it was recommended that participants initiate a procedure for the harmonization of phytosanitary regulations in the CEMAC zone;
- March 2002: a meeting of representatives from all six CEMAC member countries, organized by the IAPSC and CropLife Africa Middle East, was held in Yaounde, Cameroon, with the objective of brainstorming on modalities of creating a sub-regional commission for the registration of pesticides. To this end, a follow-up unit was set up;
- November 2002: the secretary of the follow-up unit prepared the first draft of the regulations on common pesticide registration in Central Africa;
- April 2003: meeting organized by CropLife and IAPSC in Dakar, for scientists to analyze and validate the first draft of the regulations on common pesticide registration;
- November 2003: meeting to validate the Regulations on Common Pesticide Registration in Central Africa, in Libreville, Gabon;
- April 2004: meeting organized in Bamako, Mali, by CropLife West and Central Africa between CSP and CPAC to harmonize test and labeling protocols;
- May 2004: validation of the common regulation by Agriculture Ministers of CEMAC countries in a meeting in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea;
- December 2004: validation of registration criteria initially drafted by the secretary of the CPAC followup unit in Libreville, Gabon;
- April 2005: preparation of a project, with the assistance of PIP, to support the setting up of CPAC, and submission of the project to the European Union
during a seminar organized by PIP in Brussels;
- September 2005: signature of the regulationdocument at an ad hoc meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of CEMAC member countries in Douala, Cameroon;
- December 2005: drafting of terms of reference to guide member countries in the designation of experts to constitute CPAC;
- September 2006: putting in place of CPAC bureau during a meeting organized with the financial assistance of the European Union through the PIP-CPAC project;
- March 2007: adoption of CPAC by the Council of Ministers of the Union of Central African States (UEAC) in its ordinary session in N’Djamena,Chad;
- September 2007: signature of decisions for the appointment of CPAC members by the President of the CEMAC Commission, thus marking the beginning of CPAC activities;
-June 2008 : Allocation of premises to the Permanent Secretariat of CPAC by the cameroonian government.
